Board and Committee Chairs:
Aliyah Abir
(aka Francenivia)
Aliyah teaches belly dance at the Green Street Fitness Center, and
performs in the Champaign-Urbana area, including a regular spot at Cafe
Hookah. She is known for her Shamadon (candelabra) dance, and flawless
zill work. Although she just began teaching, Aliyah brings five years of
experience as a performer to the job. She has extensive knowledge about
the history and culture of the dance, and is working hard to learn Arabic.
As recent transplant to our fair city from California, Aliyah is familiar
with the workings of a very
active and organized belly dance community. We are very fortunate to have
her energy, dedication, and professionalism as a part of our BDA team
