It's Hafla Time Again!

Everyone is welcome to joins us at Ishara's home to share an evening of Middle Eastern dance and pot luck party at 6:30 on Saturday, July 24th.

Ishara and Aliyah will be joined by a wonderful new Tribal fusion group from Aaminah's studio on the performance stage this time, and of course we will have the open dance area again.

In addition to the dancing, this time we have:

  •  Henna to share for temp tattooing

  • An area to watch video's and check them out from our library

  • A tassel making table (please bring yarn and goodies if you have them)

  • The Belly Dance Flea Market ~Ishara and Aliyah will bring things to sell from their old costume stash and the association sales team will have Dahlal items on hand. Please bring items to sell if you have some.

The business meeting agenda includes...

  • Forming committees for the February Fundraiser, Belly Boo II, and future haflas.

  • Nominating members to the Board

  • Our first sales/treasury report, and the installment of our new Treasurer

  • Information Report and Discussion on affiliation with a national organization or not?

For the pot luck...

If everyone brings dishes as delicious as last time there will be a wonderful feast. Some ideas include Greek dishes such as dolmah, spanikopita, and olive plates; Indian dishes such as samosa, nan, and kahir; Middle Eastern dishes such as falafel, hummus, and feta plates. However, we are happy eat whatever delicacy you are willing to bring even if it's pick-nick potato salad. Ishara will provide Afghani rice, and Kabobs on the grill.

This will probably be our last hafla at Ishara's home for quite a while, so come and bring friends! If your interested in attending but are not already a member of BDA, send an email with some info about yourself and the title Hafla to C-U Baladi and we will mail you the directions or call 469-8895 for other info.
